The OZONATOR ozone monitoring system is self
calibrating. The on-board Programmable Logic Control (PLC) unit
monitors all functions of the OZONATOR and records and saves the data.
Through the display panel, all functions of the OZONATOR can be
monitored. The process can only be over-ridden or modified by entering
a secure access code. In the OZONATOR NG-1000, on-going confirmation of the successful treatment of waste is done in two ways. |
Monthly Procedure
On a monthly basis, 3M 1294 Biological Indicators are used to confirm that the OZONATOR NG-1000 process is achieving sterilization (greater than log6). 3M 1294 ATTEST Biological Indicators are placed in the waste holding bin and exposed to the levels of ozone used to treat the waste. |
After
the 3M 1294 Biological Indicators have been exposed in the treatment
bin for 4 hours. They are removed from the bin and allowed to vent.
This venting allows any residual ozone to escape or dissipate. If the
biological indicators are not allowed to vent, the residual ozone will
render the incubation/testing invalid in that the residual ozone will
react with the fluids within the biological indicator. After venting, the 3M biological Indicators are placed in a 3M 290G Incubator - Autoreader. After four hours in the incubator, the incubator will indicate whether the biological indicator is positive or negative for pathogen growth. |
Daily
Procedure For the purposes of daily efficacy testing of the OZONATOR
NG-1000 technology, chemical indicators that have been developed by a
company called TSO3 are used. TSO3 develops technologies that use ozone
to sterilize re-usable medical devices.(see TSO3.com) The daily use of the chemical indicator indicates that the equipment and process are operating properly and that all conditions are present to achieve the same results as if you were using a 3M 1294 Biological Indicator. A chemical indicator is placed in the waste holding bin. The chemical indicator is allowed to remain in the waste holding bin for a minimum of four hours. The chemical indicator is removed from the waste holding bin. The dot on the chemical indicator will change color if the appropriate level of O3 has been achieved. These chemical indicators are FDA approved and have been in use for several years. They are very simple to use and quickly and easily verify the technology. Post Treatment Residue Disposal, Reclamation, or Recycling The treated bio-hazardous waste from the OZONATOR technology can be disposed of by burial in a landfill. |
